Both deliver analog warmth and can be blended back against the clean signal. TAIP produces convincing tape warmth and compression that earns its reviews, sculpted by eight controls — NOISE, WEAR, GLUE, INPUT, MODEL, PRESENCE, HI-SHAPE, LO-SHAPE — with a WET/DRY Mix to balance against the dry.

Where TAIP wins

The tape compression — GLUE. Is Nessie a Baby Audio TAIP alternative?

Not strictly head-to-head — they chase different sounds. TAIP is a deep emulation of one tape machine, with its prized GLUE compression at the core. If you want tape specifically, TAIP; if you want a wider lo-fi vocabulary that sits cleanly on a vocal, Nessie.

Does Nessie do tape compression like TAIP's GLUE?

No. Nessie has no dedicated glue/compression stage, and TAIP's GLUE — the even, tape-style squeeze reviewers single out — is the feature Nessie does not replicate. For that specific behavior, TAIP is more authentic.
